Russian / Ukrainian Christmas Celebration!

This year, for the first year we celebrated Orthodox Christmas Eve.  It was so fun, and very meaning ful.  We put fresh Hay on the floor and table to represent where Christ was born.
Mike and I sang a blessing over the children, and then we had a lovely dinner.

And our 3rd son and grand son.IMG_0318 IMG_0328 IMG_0388   We took a special trip the the deli for Russian comfort foods.  This product is very similar to creme of wheat, but ground much finer.

I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Christmas!

Thank you for all the posts. Although we don’t share much on the surface (different religious traditions, different family situations, different geography and just about different everything), I get so much strength in my own life from what you post.

Your deep faith helps me with my own faith–I ride on your coattails. And your deconstruction of what goes on, the reality of the huge berg that underlies the tip of ice that we see, parallels how the world seems to me. I try to behave accordingly, though that’s where YOUR faith helps ME.

About Russian/Ukrainaian goods/stuff/food, Brighton Beach, the epicenter of Russian immigrant life in NYC, is only 45 minutes by subway from my home. It would be my great pleasure to send a goodie box if there’s anything you can’t get ahold of near your home. Not to take away from the great state of Texas in any way… 😉
